Our New Developments

The construction permits topped out at over $8.2 million last month, due to steady new home construction along with commercial and nonprofit ventures. There were a total of 18 new home permits issued valued at nearly $3.1 million. This figure is down from the August total, but up from the same period last year.
The average number of closing also increased from an average 106.8 to 157 per month for the past six months (March - August), couple with an average price increase of approximately 13%. The new construction sales numbers increase from 149 (March - August 2008) to 181 for the same period this year (March - August 2009).

Many of these improvements are thought to be occurring for several reasons; improved consumer confidence in the Lawton area, very attractive interest rates, and the arrival of new families (BRAC). Although the influx of the military families has not had any large immediate effect; many hold off from buying right away due to frequent deployments, having homes in other parts of the country that are not experiencing the same results as Lawton and the rest of Oklahoma has. But in the next two to three years there is expected another construction boost.

•    Located just off I-44, Elgin’s quite favorable location allows several surrounding communities to use Elgin as their center.   Using statistics from the follow ing zip codes ( 73538 Elgin - 5500 people, 73541 Fletcher - 2719 people, 73567 Sterling - 860 people) the locals appreciate Elgin’s present economic viability.  Elgin’s Public Schools current enrollment is 1560 students and growing.  Finally and most importantly, the “true” population is 9079 people and expanding.

•    Lawton's East Side is rapidly developing, which includes the New Fine Home community “Scissortails”.  The addition provides a secluded and striking setting within minutes of Lawton-Ft. Sill. The east side schools, McArthur Jr. and Senior High's, were chosen as the first of the secondary schools to begin implementing Middle school enrollment.

•    To the West of Lawton, is the wonderful bedroom community of CACHE literally minutes to Ft. Sill.  It’s homes and small town living style are a sought-after retreat.  Cache High School was first organized in 1902, the same year the post office was built in Cache. Today, Cache High School is a rapidly growing district of over 250 square miles.  With a population of 2,371 at the 2000 census, Cache is included in the Lawton, Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to the Star House, which was home to the Comanche chief Quanah Parker.
